Yet, Again we had another exam rehearsal for Logarithm. We had a substitute for Mr. K. She didn't really gave us numbers to be in groups so instead we chose our own groups. Everyone worked on it but in the end we found out that we didn't have to hand it in. The answers are not up yet but I'm pretty sure Mr. K will put it up sometime later tonight. PRECAL40S: LAST BOB

WOW! This is our last unit and its about SEQUENCES. Also this is our last blog for this semester. What can I say? I've learned so much about sequences. At times it can be very confusing because you wouldn't really know which formula to use but with the workshop we do in class helped me a lot. That's all there is to it. Practice ... practice.

Aw, I'll miss this class. Thee best class ever.

SECOND LAST BLOG?!

Sorry I just posted now. I had work and i just got off. Anyways....Probability what can I say? Its true its the easiest unit but its hard to write down on the paper because there's so many ways you can do it and its hard to decide which one is right. I didn't really like probability ever since junior high well ever since I knew what it was. But whenever we work on problems in class I start to like it more and actually get it. Hmm ... well this is long enough. I'll leave it as it is and study!

I would say this unit was really fun. It was like half math and half art class. Putting a bunch of dots on the paper and folding them and not knowing that we made an ellipse and hyperbola! It was pretty amazing. Also Mr. K's "ALMIGHTY SWORD" haha. It was pretty funny. I've learned so much about ellipse and hyperbola, I also learned more things about parabolas and circles. They're all connected in some way or another. Well, goodluck on the pretest and the test everyone! :))

BLOG NUMBER FIVE ... i think ? WE ARE DONE ANOTHER UNIT! I found thid unit very interesting because whenever we get into groups and do some exercises when its time to put up the answer its funny how everyone has thier own way answering a certain question. Its too funny. listen to our podcast! But in a way it kind of confuses me ... though i'll eventually get it with the help of the class *thumbs up* In this unit all you have to do is ..........

Hi guys I'm your scribe for today. K, so I'm going to have to remember it on top of my head with the help of MrSiwWy. Since the podcast and the slides aren't up yet. Or maybe its just my computer? hmm, anyways here it is ...

MORNING CLASS:
We started a new unit today it is called "The Fundamental Princple of Counting". We were about to start but then the computer crashed. So Mr. K couldn't access to his lesson plan. We just waited a bit then BOOM it started working! Then we started and we talked about the combinations of ties, pants and shirts. There was a question that goes a little something like this

how many outfits can be made from 3 pants and 4 shirts?
3 x 4 = 12

Now you can do it using a tree diagram and it looks like this ....

with two pants, three shirts and two ties.

We did more problems that has to do with tree diagrams and we got into factorials. The symbol for it is ! (yep, its an exclamation mark)

Definition:
n! = (n) x (n-1) x (n-2) x (n-3) its also the same as ... 3 x 2 x 1
0! = 1 (Mr. K will explain more later on this unit why zero factorial is equal to one)

How do you punch it in the calculator?
Hit the botton that says [ MATH ]
At the top of your screen you see the selections [ MATH ] [ NUM ] [ CPX ] [ PRB ]
Use the arrow keys and higlight [ PRB ] then hit the number [ 4 ]
It should then appear to your screen !

Then we had to simplify the following factorial ...


AFTERNOON CLASS:
In the beginning of the class we mostly talked about our D.E.V. We also discussed Grey-M's D.E.V project. Which by the way was very awesome! Good job!. Then we talked about the rubric for it. Mr K. feels that there should be some changes in the rubric. Then for half the class we were put in groups and practiced more on our new unit. Here they are ...

I already started on one but I can't seem to find it. Oh well, anyways my reflection on this unit. Well, like everyones saying another unit has finished. I would say that it was an `Okay` unit. Sort of like in the middle. In a way its fun. Except for the whole population of this and that and finding out the model of bacterias such and such. You know what I mean. I haven't been to class lately but this time I'm going to pull geek mode! Don't take it the wrong way. Its good, really! :)

BOB-ING ONCE AGAIN!

I almost forgot to blog. Time is passing by so fast. It's crazy. This unit I would say is really difficult. I need more practice. I didn't even get to do the quiz. Hopefully I can do it on Monday. The thing that makes it very difficult is that there is really no right answer, well I mean there are different kinds of ways to get the answer and that's what makes it hard. Your not sure if you are doing the right thing and you wouldn't really know if you've got the right answer. OH OH OH ... I really enjoyed the SINE DANCE. Yea, like Mr. K said practice practice practice is all you need to get use to identities. Well then, I should keep going at it then ... have a good weekend!

Second B.O.B for this class. Wow, another unit is done. Well not quite. I would say that we went pretty fast on this unit. Fast phase. Though we did learn a lot of of stuff. For instance, transformation, reciprocals, absolute values, odd and even functions and more! always remember ...
ALWAYS STRETCH THE GRAPH BEFORE TRANSLATING IT.

WHOOOT GO EDDIE!!!

Hey guys! Its J to the E-E-E-N-G, haha, your scribe for today.

So our class started off by Trig Modeling. First we looked at a word problem it was a picture of a mountain that was reflecting on the water. We also talked about the sunrise at Saskatchewan, can you believe that they have no daylight saving time? There were also five questions that came along with it. After looking at the picture we saw a lot of transformation. For example the reflection, compression because of the smaller mountain, or should I say a hill, on the back of the mountain. Someone said that they saw the absolute value of the sine function. Mr. K said that he would call it a linear function. We're going to spend quite some time on problem solving. Friday's class would be just the introduction to Trig modeling and on monday we'll do more problem solving, it would take about two classes. We've learned about translation, compression, reflection, invereses, reciprocal and absolute values and they can all be mix together to find a function. The pretest would either be on monday afternoon or tuesday morning, that would be the latest. The test should be either on tuesday afternoon or wednesday morning. Don't forget to do B.O.B.

Then later on Mr. K talked talked to us about our photo assignment about real life math clipart. Our first assignment is called trigonometry, we have to find pictures somewhere out in the world that has to do with trigonometry. But there is an exception we cannot take pictures of peoples faces and take pictures from the internet, we have to take it ourselves using digital cam or cellphones. Mr. K showed us the rubric from last year, it was made by a group of people not just him. I believe Mr. K wants us to take a look at the rubric and if we have any suggestions or changes feel free to add or edit it your welcome to change anything on the document. I'm pretty sure Mr. K will put up the link pretty soon.

After we talked about our place in the blogsphere and he showed us how to find out about it. We also went to one of our young visitors Eddie, he's a grade five student in Georgia. I believe Mr. K said something about him being in a grade ten level, impressive much?. Seven days ago he looked at our blog and blogged about it. We read it and everybody was impressed of Eddie. From what I can remember when I was in grade five I didn't even know what a computer is! He's so interested learning about Pi and Phi's. Everybody had different reactions when we read the part when he said he can't wait to get in highschool. Wow, Eddie your awesome. You are very inspiring. I wish I had the same attitude as you when I was in your age. Hey, you should listen to our podcast sometime for our class on Friday, March 2, 2007.

We finished everything off with a few more introductory about trigonometric modeling. We also finished some of the questions Mr. K had for the beggining of the class we did the best we could but we ran out of time so we'll finish it off on monday. Well, that's pretty much it. Sorry it was kind of late. Well have a great weekend everybody.

Wow, we're finished our first unit already? That was pretty fast! Well, what can I say? It was pretty confusing at first but when Mr. K actually took the time and explained everything from the littlest thing I finally understood it. Like Mr. K said "math has different kind of patterns", something like that. Haha. You get the point. He's right though. For example, the unit circle. If you can count 1, 2, 3 then you could memorize all the radians, the sine, cosine and tan. Also, Mr. K taught us "DABC" for graphing the function. The whole working in group thing was a good idea. I would say it was pretty fun. A lot of people also said that they learned more through working in groups. I have to agree, I did learned a lot of and understood it better working in groups with the whole sharing ideas about how to solve the problem. That's all for now.
