Well since this is the last one I guess I'll talk about how my year went in this class. First of all, I have to learn to stop being so lazy, do my homework, and study for tests. Can you believe this is only my 4th BOB?! I know what my potential is, and I guess it was my stupid choice not to work to the fullest. To be honest, I've only done the first 2 exercises out of the whole year. I'm going to struggle on this test as I did on every other and there's no one to blame but myself. So I ask myself, am I going to study tonight? We'll find out..

Scribe
Hey it's Bertman and it looks like I'm todays scribe.
We started the morning gonig to the gym for the M.A.D.D multimedia presentation. Driving under the influence is a serious offense that dangers yourself and everyone around. Driving high goes the same way, so don't do it!
Anyways we started the afternoon class by watching a youtube video created a by Mr. Greene. The video shows him teach and show everything and anything about our unit, sequences in a matter of 3-4 minutes. Amazing isn't it?

Following thw questions from the slide, the sum of the intergers 1-5000 can be found by using Gauss' formula. Where "n" = 5000, "t1" = 1 and "d" = 1. Simplifying we get a huge number, 12 502 500.
To find the sum of the numbers from 1-5000 that are multiples of 7, you start by dividing 5000 by 7 to get a value. Which is 714 different numbers. Using Gauss' formula again, "n" is now 714, "t1" = 7 and "d" = 7. Simplifying we get an answer of 1 786 785.
To find the sum of the intergers between 1-5000 excluding the numbers that aren't multiples of 7 can be found by just subtracting the 2 answers previously solved. Mr. K also told us we would be normally given this question and not the first 2.
Now we get to the super-bouncy ball questions!

There are 2 distances the ball creates. Distances bouncing up, and dropping down.
The distance of the ball when it's going down decreases by 1/4.
The distance of the ball when it's going up decreases by 1/4

By using the geometric formula, when it's going down, "t1" = 200, "r" = 3/4 and "n" = 4 since we want to find the distances after it hits the ground for the 4th time. When it's going up, "t1" = 150, "r" = 3/4 amd "n" = 3. By adding both numbers we get a total of 893.75.
There is another way to solve this type of question. When using 150 as "t1" the total distance from that first initial bounce to the second is 300. Therefore "t1" can be 300. The other values are the same and you get 693.75 as an answer. Don't forget the add the distances you left out depending on where you started. By adding 200 we get the answer again of 893.75.
Everything else are on the slides, from the sum of inifinity formula and the relationship from the value "r" to the words convergence and divergence. I don't know if we're supposed to pick scribes now that all the units are over but I choose Albert M.

BOB THE BOOGER
Wow, it's already the end of the unit, there's only 1 more week until spring break, and only about 2 and a half months of school left! I guess time does fly when you're having fun. This unit has been pretty smooth sailing for me, well at least that's what I think. I really find the proving problems difficult though but hopefully that is something I can get through. I enjoyed this unit and I'm looking forward to the next one, whatever it may be. Well it's getting later and I should probably go to bed now. Haha. I'm pretty sure everyone is asleep already so I guess that's my cue. Have a good night guys and sleep tight. =)

TGIF... PARTY!!
It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's Superman! No.... it's Bertman. Hey folks, I have the honours of being your scribe again for today. Today's class was quite short due to the quiz we had. It took up a little more than half the class so we still had enough time to correct the quizzes. None of you probably noticed but I was doing the sine dance in my head when I was stumped on a question. Too bad I can't talk much about the quiz because a couple of students missed it and Mr. Kuropatwa didn't post any of the slides.
Well anyways, Mr. Kuropatwa also mentioned that there would be a new math curriculum. There would be a Trades Mathematics, which is required for carpentry, plumbing, etc, Mathematics for the Sciences, which is similar to Pre-Cal, and Fundamentals of Mathematics, all coming in the near future.
Soon after, Mr. K showed us his very own webpage that he made for a couple of semesters now. It gives you a review of the all the units of the course. He said he will link to it on our blog and I think it'll be very useful for studying.
This has almost brought us to the end of the class but before that, we got into groups and had a little competition to see who could solve multiple choice identity questions. Right when the answers were put up the bell rang and class was over.
A reminder that the pre-test is on Monday I believe and for the students who missed today's quiz must make it up Monday at lunch. The test is on Tuesday and Wednesday is the beginning of a new unit. DON'T FORGET TO DO YOUR BOBS. HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND GUYS!
P.S. The next scribe will be Jojo stones! <-------- it was picked out of a hat

BOBby Valentino
Hey fellas, well it seems like this unit on Transformations went by quicker than the last one. It was a hard one for me, harder than the last unit I guess. I really had trouble catching on to the graphing, modeling and whatever else we did in class. lawl ('lol' pronounced) Maybe next unit I should ask for help because this is really confusing. All in all, I think this a fun class to be in, even if I'm not doing so good in it. Fun times with the SmartBoard and fun times with my fellow peers. You guys are a smart bunch, I am still overwhelmed by the knowledge in the classroom. I wish I could be smrt. One last advice to everyone..........STRETCHES before TRANSLATIONS and don't take steroids.

BOB
I can't stress enough how important it is to keep up with homework when your taking Pre-Cal. I however, have not been doing this and it will probably cost me. I seem to understand everything that Mr. K teaches in class but when it came to doing the homework, I would forget how to do it and skip a few questions. Skipping a few questions turned into skipping almost all the questions, and skipping almost all the questions turned into skipping the entire exercise. If I earn a horrible mark on the test, I deserve it. Hopefully I can get my act straight (and God please help me =\ ) so I can actually do homework for the rest of the year. So, ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to wish you good luck (from the bottom of my heart.. LOL), and myself of course to do well on the test. Study hard folks, I know I will. Always remember, success isn't a destination, it's a journey. gnight everybody

If I Only Had a Smart Board...
Hello, I am Bertman and I scribe for today. I like to announce to everyone happy valentines day and just for points a special shout out to the next scribe Jojo. Ok now to business.
Well in today’s class surprisingly enough when I got there Ricky was writing something on the board. Which was strange since Mr. Kuropatawa was not writing on the board because I was expecting a lot of notes. After O Canada, and a moment of silence, Mr. Kuropatawa, explains the tragedy that is the smart board.
The smart board unfortunately is not set up at the moment, because surprisingly enough, there are 4 smart boards at the school and they spent all night doing one smart board which unfortunately is down stairs, and his smart board is all the way upstairs and you get the picture right.
Well after that Mr. K talked about Tim-Math-y and his wonderful scribe post. And about a question that popped into Tim-Math-y’s mind about how to make wonderful graphs on the blog. That was solved by clicking this, this and this, on the smart board but unfortunately he didn’t have a smart board so we can’t click this, this and this. He also gave a shout to Ricky and John D. (who was thought to be absent) for helping Tim-Math-y with his scribe post that night.
Next thing I knew, we were talking about del.icio.us. Well I don’t know what del.icio.us is but Mark and Mr. K were talking about some site that can link to our blog with tags that Mr. K can put on at that very moment by doing, this, this and this… But Mr. K unfortunately does not have a smart board at the moment so he can not do that. But he did mention that you can sign up for a del.icio.us account, it’s free and if you want to tag anything you tag it to pc40sw07 so it will show up on our blog. He also mentioned about this online graphing tool on the blog. Which is this.
Afterwards, Mr. K. started talking about the Scribe Hall of Fame. In which he would love to show us in class but unfortunately, the smart board wasn’t set up… etc. But most recently, Vincent has been inducted into this prestige area by Mr. K himself but suffice to say that he will not do it again. Instead, he wants us, the students and teachers to have a vote on it, in other words a majority vote on it. We had a thickening debate about this among the class which was comprised of the three sides of the classroom funny enough. It was against KasiaW, who represented the left side of the class, Lauressa, who represented the center of the class and Danny who represented the right side of the class. It lasted until we had a majority vote upon it against how many votes we should have in order for a scribe to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. The number that we decided after a fierce vote was 9 votes but it also must be a majority student vote. That means teachers can only have at least 4 votes or less casted in order for the scribe to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Afterwards we answered Ricky’s question on the board that was on yesterday’s late homework. It was answered pretty easily actually. In the question you were given y= -5cos(2pix+pi)+2. To solve this you had to put the number into standard form (DABC) by factoring the 2pi. Afterwards, you solve DABC, graph the equation and your done

Then afterwards we wrote in our Math Dictionary.

Mr. K then mentioned that we are going to write more notes in our Math Dictionary tomorrow for first class and have a pre-test for second class.
