FInal BOB
Well, this unit about sequences is relatively easy. There is nothing to say about this unit because all this unit is about is just knowing when and how to use certain formulas on a given time. Just remember that if you don't know the answer just put the number 6 as it will most likely be the right answer.....XD. I hope everyone will do well on our last test...

Blogging on Blobbing
Well, this unit about probability started off as relatively easy....then it became a lot harder. The quizzes were sort of a wake up call to me that i need to study more and finish this year strong. I really need to study more on this unit because ever since junior high i struggle on probability. I wish all the best to everyone. Good luck on the test and hopefully we all do well!

Probability
Friday is grueling days ever because of 2 unexpected quizzes from Mr.K
First we started-off with this. The very first thing to do is to make a tree diagram and fill out the probability for each cases .The probability that Tony will move to Winnipeg is 2/9, and the probability he will marry Angelina if he moves to Winnipeg is 9/20, all you need to do is to multiply to the probability that Tony will move to Winnipeg and marry Angelina.
To get this, all you need to do is to multiply the probability that he is moving to Winnipeg which is 2/9 and the probability that he is not marrying Angelina 11/20.
To get this multiply the probability that he is staying which is 7/9 and the probability that he is not marrying Angelina which is 19/20.
This is the probability of drawing four aces in a standard deck of fifty-two cards.
This is the probability of drawing diamond cards.
This is the probability of drawing an ace and a diamond.
All you need to do is to add the probability of drawing four aces and diamond cards, then subtract the probability of drawing an ace and a diamond.
To answer this question, you need to make a Venn Diagram. Then from that diagram you will see that ten out of twenty-five students doesn't like either Dr.Pepper or Diet Dr.Pepper.
This is the probability of choosing two green dresses out of six.
This is the probability of choosing four dresses out of nine.
This is the probability of choosing six dresses out of fifteen.
All you need to do is just by dividing the favourable cases over the possible outcomes.
First thing is to make a tree diagram and fill out the probability for each cases. Next is to get the probability of an SUV that has air conditioning and divide it by the probability of having a passenger car that has air conditioning plus the probability of an SUV that has air conditioning.
To get this, just add the probability of drawing a defective blade first and then a good blade and the probability of drawing a good blade first and then a defective blade.
For the 1st question, you can't use the number 0 as the first digit, so you nine choices left.
The 2nd digit, you can't pick the same number that you use before so you have nine choices left. The 3rd digit , you can't pick the same number that you use for the 1st and 2nd digit, so you have 8 choices left. The 4th digit, you can't pick the same number that you use from the previous three, so you have 7 choices left.
For the 2nd question, just divide the possibility of having an odd number by the total number of possible digits.
For the 3rd question, break the question into 2 steps, one is that ending in zero and the other is ending in 5, then add both . Then divide the answer by the total number of the possible digits.
To get this, get the probability of getting exactly four hits out of 6 throws. Then, raise the probability of hitting to the fourth power and then the probability of missing to the second power.
That's it folks.By the way we have a pre-test tomorrow, sorry for the late scribe .The next scribe is DINO.

BOB
Well, this unit about conics is relatively easy because it was just all mechanical. The only thing about this unit is unit is I always mix up the terms like conjugate axis and transverse axis. I personally hate the paper folding stuff because it is so repetitive but we learned a lot from it. Anyways, thats it for my sixth BOB I need to go to school now.

BOB version 5.0
Well yet again another BOB that means another test. I think that this unit about counting is the hardest unit in this class. There are just so many possibilities that i cant even think of. The hardest questions i should say are all about poker I don't know why but it just gives me a hard time probably because i don't know how to play cards at all.Thats it for my fifth BOB. I hope we all get a good mark. Time for me to study....

Hello everyone! today marks the conclusion of our fourth unit called exponents and logarithms. I think that this unit was quite okay for the most part until we start dealing with the exponential modelling stuff. This problems seems to be really hard for me but I think that i'm starting to have a better undestanding of it now. I realize that this kinds of questions can be solve easily by just understanding what is given to you and using the right formula. good luck everyone and study hard!!!

Exponential Modelling
Hi everyone! Today we talked about exponential modelling and its application into our daily lives. Exponential modelling can be used for carbon dating, population growth and compounding interest. There are two cases to this kinds of problems:
CASE 1
In this case we are only given little information and create our own model of the function.

Thats it for my scribe today. The next scribe is Dino.
CASE 1
In this case we are only given little information and create our own model of the function.- This is how the basic function looks like.
- This is the formula that we use when we are only given little information and we have to find the model ourselves.

- It is the value that we started off with or the A[naught]
- It is the amount that we end up with after the period or the A
- It is the amount of time that passed or the delta T
- We could find the model by either using a base of 10 or a base of "e". The base "e" is preferrable, because you can get the rate of growth easily b=y just looking at the exponent of "e".

- The only thing that is stopping us to solve get the model is that it is raised to the power of 11Th so we just have to raise both sides to the power of 1/11th to get the same answer to get rid of the exponent.

- The only difference between this compound interest formulas is that the blue one is used if the interest is compounding continuouslyor there is an infinite amount of compounding.

- In this case when we are given the model we have to use the formula above.

- This is a straight ahead kind of question because its as easy as just substituting the values and punching it in on our calculators.
- Another example can be seen here:

- The 50 was derived from the hlaf of the the original substance which is 100 since we are looking for the half life.
- In this step we had to use logarithms because we are looking for an unknown value in the exponent.

- This is a straight ahead question because all you need to do is substitute in the values.
Thats it for my scribe today. The next scribe is Dino.

Blogging On BOBbing
Well, this thid unit about trigonometric identities wasn't that difficult for me. I think that doing my homework every night really helped me a lot in this unit. It helped me noticed some patterns that made me understand when to use different identities at different times. I begin to develop a feel for every identity now.I think thats all i need to say for this unit. Study hard and good luck everyone for our test and pretest.

One drop of water turned into a big Snowball
First of all I'd like to apologize to all because this scribe was kinda late so lets begin.

Thursday Class
This class was supposed to be spent to do our unit test on Transformations instead,
we talked about how our 10 minute conversation about Eddie turned out. Our conversation with about Eddie kinda snowballed. Many teachers from around the globe picked up our conversation with him and it generated a series of post that can be seen on Mr . K's post here. I personally did not expect that this will snowballed but i guess i was wrong. Then we had a chance to hear Eddie's voice for the first time in a podcasts he made about us. It was kinda good to hear his voice for the first time and from it you can actually tell his enthusiasm about the things awaiting for him in school. Then after that we tried to skype one of Eddie'd teachers, Anne Davis (sorry if i spelled your name wrong, I dont know if its suppose to be Ann), but she was not available, so we talked to our new mentor, Mr. Roland O'Daniel from Kentucky and said "hi". Then we saw a tutorial about an open source program called Geogebra made by one of Mr. K's friend in Scotland. Lastly, we talked about our upcoming project called Developing Expert Voices. In this project we have develop five problems involving the topic that we choose and solve it to represent our mastery on that topic .We must solve it in a way that we are teaching it to another student who just started this course. This project may involve some student from Mr. Fink's class in New YOrk.The deadline is on May but it is not yet 100% sure. Fell free to comment to this project.
Friday Class (Morning)
In this class we started our new unit called Trigonometric Identities.
Slide 1
In this slide it refreshes our memories about the basic trigonometric identities namely the tangent, cosine , and sine and the reciprocal functions namely, secant cosecant and cotangent. Every trigonometric identity is build up of sine and cosine functions.
Slide 2
In this slide we practice how to simplify trigonometric expressions into either cosine or sine. For the first example, sine cannot be simplify as anything because it is one of the basic blocks of trigonometric functions, secant can be simplify as 1/cosine , and cotangent can be simplify as cosine/sine. Then you can see that we just simplify everything.Remember that every question in this unit can be answer in different ways. It is just all about algebraic massage. For the second example, cosine cannot be simplified because it is one of the basic blocks, and cosecant can be simplify as 1/sin. Then we just simplifies everything as cos/sin or cotangent. For the third example you can notice that it is a difference of squares so just factor out the secant, as you can see there are three boxed answers because as I said before it can be solve in many different ways by just respecting the right algebra.
Slide 3-7
We just continue to simplify everything into either cosine, sine, or 1 but now with more complicated problems.
Slide 8
From the third question in slide 3 Grey-M said that cos^2 +sin^2 =1 which can will proven in the next slide.
Slide 9
Why is cos^2 +sin^2=1? It is because in the unit circle the distance of the x-axis is the cosine , the distance of the y-axis is the sine the radius is 1 and all the triangles are right angle so by the phytagorean theorem sin^2 +cos^2 must always equals 1 from this we generate the phytagorean identity.
Slide 10
In this slide we got all the corollaries by just algebraically massaging the pythagorean identity.
Friday (Afternoon)
This class was spent to write our test on Transformations.
Thats it for my scribe. The next scribe is MilesM. Pie day is just two days away!!!!!!

One drop of water turned into a big Snowball THE PREQUEL
Since, today's class was all about house keeping stuff and how our conversation about Eddie turned out, I decided that i will not post my scribe tonight and just be the scribe for both today and tomorrows class. Remember that the test about transformation is during the afternoon class.

Well, this unit about transformations was relatively easy for me. I dont know but I think that im good at imagining things so graphing stuff was just natural to me. I had no trouble with the other materials except this last material about modelling. I hope that i will get at least get a decent mark for this test. Good luck everyone and study hard!!REMEMBER: trust your instincts..

Blogging on blobbing
Well, first of all this class is like the best math class I've ever been. I found everything in this unit very understandable and simple because for the first time ever in my life I dedicate 2 hours every night to do all my exercises. I think that this test is going to be hard again as usual, because of Mr.K's trick questions.I think that we should all remember all the mnemonic that Mr.K taught us including the clock dance. I hope that all of us will get a good mark. Good night and Study Hard!!!
