homework ex. 4

Okay, whoa! haha. I do not know how to do number 16 and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. I was working on it with John earlier and we understand that it's pi and pi/2 but we do not know how to get the answers that were in the exercise book. =S...So if we could go over this in class it would be most excellent and greatly appreciated because I was doing my math, I understood everything until bam! 16! my favourite number! bee tee double you [btw-by the way] has stumped me! Okay well I am done with this post and fellow classmates feel free to comment on this with your problems or just your opinion. =Þ Bye, have a good night/evening and thank you! [my favourite colours! WOO!]

Well for part b) of that you'll be adding 180 to cos -3/5 so it will end up in quadrant 1 with the x and y coordinates the same distance away from their respective axis just in the different direction so the sign will be the opposite. So the answer for cos would be 3/5. That's my reasoning and I think it is right.

oh yes thank you I understand.

I understand part b), as you only add 180 degrees to it and/or you just flip the signs. What I don't get is part a). I don't get how the x or cos value changes from -3/5 to 4/5 as it is only a mirror image of the triangle on quadrant 3. I think it should become positive 3/5, not 4/5.

Oh yeah, please add the chatbox already Mr. K, haha.

I agree with John. It should be positive 3/5 because it just traveled 90 degrees counterclockwise and ended up at the same spot, then quadrant 4 becomes a mirror image of quadrant 3. Is there a possibility it's a mistake?

It will only be a mirror image if it is in the exact center of the quadrant

Oh I get it now. Nevermind. You're right but how do you get 4/5?
